Job Description

Okanogan Behavioral Healthcare is seeking an experienced Compliance Officer who is passionate about ensuring continual awareness and organizational performance in the areas of regulatory compliance, integrity, and risk. The Compliance Officer oversees the Corporate Compliance Program, reviews and evaluates compliance issues/concerns within the organization. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer and the Governing Board of Directors routinely. 

 The position ensures the Board of Directors, management and employees are in compliance with the rules and regulations of regulatory agencies, that company policies and procedures are being followed, and that behavior in the organization meets the company’s Standards of Conduct.

 Key responsibilities include, but are not limited, to:

  • Develops initiates, maintains, and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the agency and its related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct. Manages day-to-day operation of the Program;
  • Assures the development and periodic review of Standards of Conduct and measurement tools to assess the effectiveness of management compliance outcomes;  
  • Collaborates with other departments to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution;
  • Responds to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Standards of Conduct by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures. Develops and oversees a system for uniform handling of such violations;
  • Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future;
  • Ensures proper reporting of violations or potential violations to duly authorized enforcement agencies as appropriate and/or required;
  • Establishes and provides direction and management of the compliance Hotline;
  • Works with Human Resources and others as appropriate to develop an effective compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all employees and managers;

 Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in a related field with 3-5 years’ experience working in regulatory compliance and quality improvement in a healthcare setting. Supervisory and management experience is preferred.
